Yamashiro to the Present

From the Magic CastleJust north of the corner of Orange & Franklin in Hollywood. Hidden behind the Magic Castle on Sycamore St., I find The Hollywood Hill Hotel (Yammy's). It was the country in the city. I lived there 15 years while learning my art. Tucked just enough around the hill, to be shaded from the afternoon sun. The attachment to this picture is a view of downtown from the balcony upon which I started this most recent journey. You could see downtown if you could get rid of the smog. Two MusketeersThis is Josh & Che. Josh was Che's first BEST friend when he moved to Hollywood to live with me. When Josh moved away soon after this photo, it really hurt Che'. I hope they find each other again. I think Josh moved to Cresent City, but we lost touch with him. Clicking on this picture will show you the view over their shoulders.
The younger meThis is me when I lived at Yamashiro in Hollywood. This is what I see of me from my eyes. I have been reminded that I need glasses now, and this is not what I look like anymore. Oh well! P.S.- The woman's hand is my MOTHER's. Just popped upChe' wanted to go to a Carnival, but he was sure he could never have one as we lived in Hollywood. This one showed up the next weekend. Next, he was SURE we couldn't go because it would be too crowded. Then it rained, and the extensive mud tracks on the sidewalk scared everyone away. But we could see from the hill we lived on, that the ENTIRE midway had been covered in plywood .NO Mud! We rode all the rides we wanted. Be Careful what you ask for, you just might get it.
Really what she asked forThis is the second time that SOMETHING was asked for. Che' lived with me, Sara lived in Cardiff with mom. Sara came up one weekend, and we were talking about all the broken bones I had in my life. They both WISHED that they could have one, so they could have a cast. Sara went home, and in different cities, on 8-8-88, they BOTH broke a bone. Here is the picture. Sara is very proud of herself. Che' is humbled by the experience Cloud watchingThis cloud followed me from RENO NV to Los Angeles, CA. I watched it in my rearview mirror all the way. Moved right along with me as I drove home. WIERD but actual! Just a funny looking cloud. The Griffith Observatory can be seen on the ridge below the cloud.
I want to buy this placeShe needed a vacation. It couldn' t wait.. She was distressed over the changes in her life, and had a need to be spontaneous. We left LA, driving to BIG SUR on a 4th of July weekend with no reservations. I KNEW that we would find the perfect place. You always do if you follow your faith. When we got to BIG SUR, "there was no room at the Inn". We had seen this really cute place (LUCIA) some 20 miles back, but had the NEED to get to Big Sur, so we had continued past it. We called to see about this last place available, and could they hold it for us. They had one room open, but would only be open another 30 minutes and would NOT wait. We started the drive in the dark on cliffside roads of Highway 1 (in California). I am a maniac driver, but I knew that I didn't know the roads well enough to go fast enough to make it. At THAT MOMENT, a red pickup truck passed us at a high rate of speed,. We followed that truck, and made it to the Lodge in time. Follow your heart. Then again, it could have been the clerk at the store, our having just stopped to ask for help finding a room. True wishesI once dreamt of building a house in the country. Using stones from the chimney of the first settlement house, and the old beams from the barn. I realize that many people dream of that, but for a moment in time, I actually touched it.
Walking for healthChe' took this picture on one of our hikes to the top of Mount Lee. Click this to see a picture taken just before I left Germany (1967). Going back to travel around the states. Kneeling on topThe pump on the windmill at the farm had been disconnected for some time, but still squeaked. I climbed up to grease it and found that the brother (across the road) had been using the gearbox for rifle target practice, causing the gears to rub. I applied a LIBERAL amount of grease and some days later it went silent. The shots were in a nice tight grouping. GOOD SHOOTING CHRISSY!
Cat on the ottomanHere is Lickity Split. In charge of almost everything. Originally called "Little kitty". I noticed one day that she came when I called her "Little Kitty". I decided that if I could name her with a similar sounding name, she would already be trained. She moved through the house "Lickity-split" fast and it stuck. Drip..drip...and Lucy LIU..brought on the day my mother's dog died. Made up of all the pieces that made her what was asked for. Known as Lucy Liu in a dream the week of her arrival. Full of love, and devoted to her humans. WARNING! She is armed with a tongue you have to feel to believe.
Blazing colorsHere is an example of the sunsets looking west over a national forest. The colors are so bright that you have to look away. Click for an example of the SUNRISE looking north. There is a broad range of snow capped mountains accross the valley. All-in-all not a bad way to wake up and go to sleep. Still dripping
...still the cutest (2/98). This is her "PLEASE keep touching me" look.
Sara is FamousWe took a trip to the LA Children's Museum when Sara was small. One of the media projects for the kids to participate in, resulted in Sara's picture being selected for a Mural on Highway 101. The mural is in downtown LA near Olvera St. One of these men became a Grandfather and one a DAD! Leilani Lynn Berardi. Born April 28, 2000 in the same hospital as her father.

Lucy Liu Berardi became very sick as the drugs available to correct her Addison's Disease started poisoning her liver. I let her go before she suffered.
She loved ALL Vets
Thank You Lucy for the hoof and bed Sara had wanted a dog for years. The day before Lucy expired, she "Informed" her landlord that she was getting a dog. She always wanted a "Lab", but instead found COBY!
Show them a little DOS and you can't get a spot at the keyboard when you need one. The dog is tired, and mumbling binary. The cat still can't figure out why the 3.5 inch diskettes won't work in the Apple IIe. Let the humans have a turn!
Here is what has become of Ché. Father and Husband. Trusted and relied on by his friends. Chin up and speaking of the future.
I finally got to visit my Granddaughter Leilani. I also got to see Sara and Ché. Then I spent a week learning JAVA...what a trip! I missed seeing Rick and Jeff this trip. Sorry guys!
Earthbound Angels - coming soonWe just kind of FOUND each other at the pumpkin patch, thanks to "Pete" I think. Hard to calculate the odds of it surviving it's own birth.
I like the things I discover at each location I visit. Like this old Libby Tower in Sunnyvale, California in 2004. Very cool to see a piece of the olden days remaining in the midst of the Hi-tech Silicon Valley. 1985-Sunnyvale Industrial Park opens at the former site of the Libby, McNeil, & Libby cannery. Cannery water tower incorporated into design, decorated as 1935 fruit cocktail can by artist Anita Kaplan.
